Skógafoss (Skoga is the name of the river, meaning "forest" and foss meaning "waterfall") is a waterfall located on the Skoga River in the village of Skógar, south of Iceland. The Skoga River flows from its cliffs and falls 62 meters1 forming a fall from a width of about 25 meters. Fall is one of the most famous and most visited of the country.
It is said that would be safe behind the waterfall, deposited here by the Viking Thrasi Thorolfsson. A child found the chest years later, but could not take a handful, which is now stored in the museum of Skógar.
