Phelsuma madagascariensis
A close up shot of a Madagascar day gecko eating a large cockroach. These are the largest day geckos in Madagascar. They are quite common and can be found in a variety of habitats across the island. They seem to do very well in areas that have been altered by people - this particular animal was one of several that could be easily found right near the kitchen of a hotel we stayed at near Montagne d'Ambre in Northern Madagascar.
