Lonely on the Upper Lehigh
The single result of an epic failure in an attempt to shoot Norfolk Southern's daylight Sunday H-66, the sole train on the Upper Lehigh Line between Allentown and Lehighton, PA.
After photographing the Reading and Northern's F units running north with the OCS at Glen Onoko, we started east, unknowingly passing the westbound run somewhere. After hours of driving around on a wild goose chase, we finally found the H-66 coming east.. with a single SD40E running light engine back towards Allentown.
While this was a major disappointment, we at least glassed a shot of SD40E 6303 going away from the old Mauser Mill at Treichlers, PA. Still not as sad as what this line used to host vs. what its become in the past half decade, with the loss of Canadian Pacific run-through trains and NS abolishing the 36/37T road freights.
