El Centro Cultural Kirchner (CCK) de Argentina es un espacio para artes plásticas, espectáculos musicales y exposiciones, que fue inaugurado el 21 de mayo de 2015 y está ubicado en el edificio que fuera anteriormente sede del Correo Central de Buenos Aires. Es el más importante en tamaño de América Latina y el tercero a nivel mundial, sólo equiparable a pocos centros culturales del mundo: El Centro Pompidou, de Paris; el Foro Internacional de Tokio; y el Lincoln Center, de Nueva York. Recibe su nombre en homenaje al expresidente argentino Néstor Kirchner.
El Centro Cultural tiene sobre la calle Sarmiento el área Histórica o Ceremonial donde se conserva la arquitectura y el diseño original con mobiliario e instalaciones de la época como el Salón de los Buzones que aun tiene las 5 mil casillas de correo del antiguo edificio postal, el Salón de los Escudos, el Salón de Honor o el Salón Eva Perón donde se conserva el despacho donde trabaja Evita.
Otro de los sectores que se destacan en el área Industrial o Moderna donde en una estructura parecida a una jaula con columnas donde se realizan actividades con mucho público.
La Ballena Azul (Sala sinfónica)
Sin lugar a dudas uno de los lugares más destacados el Centro Cultural es la sala de concierto para 1950 espectadores conocido como la Ballena Azul por sus curvas azuladas. Esta sala posee una acústica excelente y un órgano de viento de 3500 tubos y 46 registros.
La Cúpula:
La Cúpula del Palacio de Correo fue totalmente restaurada y se instalado un sistema de leds con los cuales se puede representar la bandera nacional y el resto de las banderas del mundo. Además junto a la cúpula funciona una terraza con un mirador desde el cual se obtiene impresionantes vistas panorámicas de la ciudad.
La Gran Lámpara o El Chandelier:
La Gran Lámpara o Chandelier es el espacio vanguardista dedicado al arte contemporáneo y esta compuesto por una gran estructura cuadrada de vidrio que cuelga del techo. Tiene un peso de dos mil toneladas y se apoya en una serie de columnas.
The Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK) of Argentina is a space for plastic arts, musical shows and exhibitions, which was inaugurated on May 21, 2015 and is located in the building that used to be the headquarters of the Central Post Office of Buenos Aires. It is the most important in size of Latin America and the third in the world, only comparable to few cultural centers in the world: The Center Pompidou, in Paris; the Tokyo International Forum; and Lincoln Center, New York. It receives its name in tribute to the former Argentine President Néstor Kirchner.
The Cultural Center has on Sarmiento Street the Historical or Ceremonial area where the architecture and the original design are preserved with furniture and facilities of the time such as the Hall of Mailboxes that still has 5 thousand mailboxes of the old postal building, the Hall of the Shields, the Hall of Honor or the Eva Perón Room where the office where Evita works is kept.
Another of the sectors that stand out in the Industrial or Modern area where in a structure similar to a cage with columns where activities are carried out with a large audience.
The Blue Whale (Symphony Hall)
Undoubtedly one of the most prominent places the Cultural Center is the concert hall for 1950 spectators known as the Blue Whale for its blue curves. This room has excellent acoustics and a wind organ of 3,500 pipes and 46 registers.
The Dome:
The Dome of the Palace of Mail was totally restored and a system of LEDs is installed with which the national flag and the rest of the flags of the world can be represented. In addition to the dome there is a terrace with a viewpoint from which you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city.
The Great Lamp or The Chandelier:
The Great Chandelier or Chandelier is the avant-garde space dedicated to contemporary art and is composed of a large square glass structure hanging from the ceiling. It weighs two thousand tons and is supported by a series of columns.
