Size 40 Wooden Clogs

Since summer is almost here, I decided to dig out some appropriate footwear - Clogs, sandals, and such.

I bought these size 40 clogs about 30 years ago, when the older ones I posted pictures of a year ago first started to wear down. But i kept wearing the old ones as they wore out, even after the soles broke in half, and occasionally after parts of the sole fell off. I did wear these occasionally, but enjoyed wearing the broken ones, just to prove I could.

I still wear the broken ones from time to time. If I haven't worn them for a while, the sharp edges of the broken soles cut into my feet, but after a while, I stop noticing and I can wear them all day.

These had disappeared into the back of the closet. Then a few years ago, I dug these out and started wearing them to work. The old ones were rather too broken for that, although I used to wear them to work for some time after the soles broke in half.

Shortly after I started wearing these again, the rubber soles and heels fell off, all within a day. The adhesive had dried up. I tried gluing them back on, but the first time the glue didn't hold, and they promptly fell back off.

I wore them for a couple of weeks without the rubber soles, but the wood would have worn down very quickly, so I tried "crazy glue" and that held the rubber soles on.

Within the last month, the adhesive on the heels let go,and the rubber fell off again. The rubber on the soles is coming loose again also, and I'm sure will fall off soon. This time I'm not replacing it, I'll let the wood wear down naturally. When and if they wear to the point where I have to give up on them, I'll buy new ones.
