According to "her" book #TheFemaleMarine (original title:#TheAdventuresofLucyBrewer), at age 16, #LucyBrewer got pregnant by her boyfriend Henry, but when he didn’t marry her, she became a prostitution after her baby died in childbirth. During that time, she became motivated by a patriotic desire to fight in #TheWarOf1812, so Lucy tricked her way onto the ship by pretending to be a man named George Baker. #ClapForThat! Her years of military service went from 1812 to 1815.
