Lydia Taft

Welcome to #LisaDurden’s #WomensHistoryMonthMoment: Lydia Taft, born February 2, 1712, became the first recorded legal woman voter in Colonial America after her husband Josiah and eldest son Caleb died. The Uxbridge, Massachusetts townspeople, granted permission to allow #LydiaTaft to receive a proxy to vote, because of the landowner and taxpayer status of Josiah's estate. #ClapForThat! She passed away November 9, 1778.
