Florence Griffith Joyner

Welcome to Lisa Durden’s #WomensHistoryMonthMoment: Florence Griffith Joyner, born December 21, 1959, is the fastest woman who ever lived! #FloJo set world records for both the 100 meters, and 200 meters at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea; that still stand!! #ClapForThat!! Olympic gold medalist #FlorenceGriffithJoyner brought style and “the sexy” to track and field with fly, form fitting bodysuits, six-inch designer fingernails and long flowing hair. Sadly, she died unexpectedly in her sleep at age 38, of an epileptic seizure on September 21, 1998, at her home in Mission Viejo, California and was survived by her husband and their daughter, Mary Joyner.
