Little Rock Creek
There are three "rock creeks" in Madison County in Missouri.
They all have shut-ins features which are accessible in the Mark Twain National Forest. From north to south they are Rock creek, Lower Rock Creek, and Little Rock Creek.
Lower Rock Creek is the best know of these, but the other two are also worth a visit.
Rock creek is best visited in spring when the azaleas are flowering. Little Rock creek has a lot of poison ivy and is best visited in winter. In the Shut-in part, there are number of nice cascades along Little Rock Creek and then the water races down bare rock to a large pool.
If it is below freezing, beware as there are lots of seeps which freeze over making getting to creek difficult, but then again they are quite beautiful as shown in this image
