Sherbrooke Hotel
The Sherbrooke Hotel was a late addition to the Art Deco scene in South Beach. It was built in 1947 in the Streamline Moderne design. The hotel actually appears to be an ocean liner. The portholes along Collins Avenue add to this nautical effect.
The hotel has a rounded corner entry with the eyebrows continuing around the corner. The stacked eyebrows and racing stripes above the corner entry give the building added height - it appears taller than it is.
Of note, the eyebrows are not continuous along the longer 9th Street facade. They are broken up into three segments.
