When we visited Disneyland in August 1969, you bought a ticket book as you entered. (The all-you-can-ride policy didn't begin until the early 1980's.)
You rode the rides based on the ticket category: A through E.
You could buy additional packets of tickets if you wanted to ride an attraction you no longer had a ticket for.
