Wealhy City

The relative wealth of Quito, historically at least (although presently too) is demonstrated by the ridiculously ornate churches, a number of which are totally covered in gold leaf. The decadence is impressive, but equally depressing - beggers are often found sitting at the entrances to these churches, asking passers-by for change.
