Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay
I have created a “draft” version of the Marina Bay Sands in December 2013. Similar to my other projects, I made the initial structure as a placeholder of things that I wanted to create. I knew how I wanted to shape the MBS, but didn't really have the right plates to make a finish. Albeit having the wall finishing plates on the slanting/curved wall wrong, it was already recognizable structure then. This MOC spent a long time in our shelf looking that way for a while, until a couple of weeks ago, when I finally got the right plates to finish the slanting/curve wall. Though I have achieved an almost-accurate shape, this project is still a work in progress.
When the news of Lee Kuan Yew's passing broke out, it made it more pressing for me to scavenge from my bin and continue with the expansion. I have only been in Singapore several times and have always been fascinated with all changes it has gone through from one visit to the next. This country was built to rise in such a short period of independence all because of one man's vision and his iron fist. We all know that there is no pleasing everybody, but I would like to pay my respect to the man who did a herculean task of changing a nation, and for showing that progress follows the hardworking man who has vision, discipline and strong will.
