Rip Drop

My Little tribute and story of Drop.

This affair started about 4 years ago as I've already said earlier.

I came across an owl by chance or fate, while on my way home.

As the weeks went by I watched alone and noted every single time I had seen him within this given area. This owl was no ordinary owl, it would do the same two days on the trot then change, almost making it impossible to set a plan.

A plan I had, bracket the time you know he would appear and stake out hours on either side of this. My little knowledge started to grow of this owl. Timings, weather, wind. I was getting to grips with him. Yes, he would throw a curb ball in and would just pop out when he wanted.

I have watched over the area now for thousands of hours and running into a massive amount of days a year. Mostly I would catch a glimpse but never an image, sometimes this ran into weeks not days. I had over this period gained permission to be in areas no others could.

I had watched him peek kiss his mate, I had watched them hunting as a team. He was an awesome hunter, somedays within 20 seconds of being sent out for food he would be on his way home with her prize.

Over the years I have invited some privileged friends the chance to get an image of him. Some may agree there best ever Barn Owl images. Sadly tho I have to sign this adventure off with massive heavy heart tears in my eyes that Drop last perched for me 18:56 5/4/2021
