North Trail - Timber Rattlesnake

Finally, a Timber Rattlesnake. I can cross that one off my list of yet-to-be-encountered wildlife. It was kinda funny how I spotted this guy. Actually, he spotted me, and he let me know it. I just randomly stopped on the wide North Trail to readjust a strap on one of my packs. After I planted my trekking poles into the ground to stand them up, I heard the loud and clear rattle. I didn't see it at first but was able to step away from where the noise came from, and then I saw him. Curled up and acting cool, but wary. He only rattled briefly and then just laid there as I walked around (giving about 4 feet of space or so) snapping some pictures. In the end, I think we both concluded that we were not an active threat to each other. I was thrilled!. Cool find.
