Phantom FG.1 XT860 "Lima" from 43 Fighting Cocks Squadron taxies for departure to Leuchars on runway 14, ending an MPC detachment at STCAAME, RAF Valley, in May 1986. For a change it was warm with a light breeze, in contrast to many previous visits.

The lower canopy frames of XT860 bear the names of pilot Flt Lt Jules Bourn (Rumbold), and highly experienced navigator Sqn Ldr Barry Mayner, who had started his squadron service on Avro Lincolns. This aircraft featured in a video taken by Sqn Ldr Mayner of a TU-95 Bear intercept, shared as part of a talk expertly given by both crew at University of Glasgow Engineering Society in late 1987.
