Circumstances have made it so I have to take my daughter to school each morning. This has added roughly an hour to my already long commute. However, it's also given us a chance to talk, enjoy each other's company, as well as have a bit of fun. I think she feels the same!

 

It's not easy to make difficult choices more enjoyable. It helps to have a strong motivating force, such as my need to keep my daughter safe. It also helps to possess a great support network, from my partner, to relatives, to the school administration. All are part of my daughter's team, and they're doing a great job.

 

Lastly, a positive mindset helps. I choose to be upbeat and engaging, even when I'm bone tired. It's not fair to infect her attitude with my bad one.

 

For those of you struggling, I wish you well. For those that can, look out for those that may need a helping hand. As journalist Mignon McLaughlin said, "Don't be yourself-be someone a little nicer."
