Israel Railways - Tel Aviv (Yarkon Bridge), 1954 - Three ISR steam locomotives (bridge testing)

Three Israel Railways steam locomotives (ex-Palestine Railways Baldwin 4-6-0 Nr. 883, LMS class 8F 2-8-0 Nr. 70503 (North British 24711 / 1941), and another LMS 8F steam locomotive) during a bridge test late in 1954, on the recently completed new main line between Haifa and Tel Aviv. Depicted in this view is the new Yarkon River bridge, in the north of Tel Aviv.

Officially inaugurated on November 04, 1954, the new railway line provided a direct link between the two cities, along the new coastal route. Eucalyptus trees and rich vegetation were once a common sight in this area.
