Hedjaz Railway - Beersheba train station - ex-TCDD class 8F 2-8-0 steam locomotive in November 2016

A view of the Hedjaz Railway train station in Beersheba, Israel, in November 2016. A formerly Turkish TCDD class 8F (Stanier) 2-8-0 steam locomotive, Nr. "70414", is on permanent static display right outside the station building, as an interesting, though entirely irrelevant, reminder of Beersheba's railway history.

Nr. "70414", being a standard gauge locomotive, never had anything to do with the Turkish-Ottoman and narrow gauge Hedjaz Railway whatsoever, but was still placed on public display in Beersheba in the spirit of a popular Israeli song from the 1950s, commonly known as "The Locomotive's Song" which is about the last voyage of ISR (ex-LMS) steam locomotive Nr. 70414 from Beersheba to the scrapyard in Haifa, thereby marking the end of the steam era in Israel and the beginning of the diesel age in the Holy Land:

Details of this locomotive:

LMS Nr. 8267 (North British 1940), WD Nr. 341, TCDD Nr. 45166.

Recovered from Sivas in December 2010 by the Churchill 8F Trust and brought to Beersheba in 2012.
