Palestine Railways - Jerusalem train station, 1918 - La Meuse 2-6-2 steam locomotive Nr. 2420

British officers are considering several ways to extract a La Meuse 2-6-2 steam locomotive, Nr. 2420, from the turntable pit in Jerusalem. Another steam locomotive, Baldwin 2-6-0 Nr. 3 "Ramleh" (originally built for the Jaffa & Jerusalem Railway), is seen across the turntable - the sole survivor of a fleet of five such narrow gauge locomotives that were either deliberately destroyed or evacuated to the north of the country , along with the retreating Turkish Army in December 1917. Beyond Nr. 3 is a Sudanese 4-4-0 (Kitson) and another 4-4-0 belonging to the Luxor & Aswan Railway, in Egypt
