Brenton Point State Park
Newport, Rhode Island
Filters: Gold-N-Blue polarizer, 3-stop soft-edge GND, 10-stop ND
Taken recently on a Saturday morning that started out nice but turned increasingly overcast. The Gold-N-Blue polarizer however picked up some nice highlights in this jetty. It can produce weird results in color, but the Gold-N-Blue is becoming my go-to filter for black-and-white photography.
BTW, the Great Egret from my previous post started fishing on the other side of the jetty as I was wrapping up this shot. It's nice how things work out sometimes.
A little about the location (from Wikipedia): Brenton Point State Park is located on Aquidneck Island in the town of Newport, Rhode Island. The park's location off Ocean Drive offers majestic vistas of the Atlantic Ocean as it meets Narragansett Bay.
The Ocean Drive Historic District covers the long street of the same name along the southern shore of Newport. It was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1976, in recognition for its distinctive landscape (in part the work of Frederick Law Olmsted) and architecture, which is less formal and generally not as ostentatious as the grand summer properties of Bellevue Avenue.
It consists of houses on large lots that overlook the beaches and ocean. It was a favorite picnicking spot of the wealthy summer residents of the mansions on nearby Bellevue Avenue in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
