Beavertail Light
Jamestown, Rhode Island
I've been wanting to shoot this lighthouse for a while, but haven't taken the time to study it for composition. Nevertheless, the cloud structure and movement last Sunday looked promising, so I headed out to Beavertail State Park to experiment. I'm not in love with the composition, but was happy with the way the clouds streaks turned out. I didn't like the color version at all. After making basic adjustments to the RAW file in Lightroom, I used Silver Efex Pro to process the monochrome image. It was interesting to play with the various B&W color filters, toning selections, and film types available in that program.
Filters: LEE landscape polarizer, 2-stop soft-edge GND, and 6- and 10-stop NDs (a.k.a. the Little and Big Stoppers)
