Due East

View out over the Atlantic Ocean from just north of Well Rock

Scituate, Massachusetts

Another seascape from a productive and enjoyable afternoon shooting long exposures with fellow Flickrite Jonathan Elcock. The clouds had mostly moved off shore at this point, but I was able to capture some streaks with the 10-stop ND. I really liked the late afternoon light cast on those rocks, coupled with the glare reduction and added warmth of a landscape polarizer. However, use of a polarizer does not always produce rainbows and unicorns, particularly at wide angles, as I'm learning; notice the darker bands in the upper corners of the image. The band in the upper right corner was particularly dark; I confess to using a digital graduated filter in Lightroom to lighten up that corner. It was an easy adjustment. I was willing to live with this because I really liked what the polarizer did with the FG. Life's all about compromise!

Filters: 10-stop ND, 2-stop hard-edge GND, landscape polarizer
