If you plant it, they will come
Kudos to my wife for clearing the brush and weeds away from this butterfly bush we planted a while back. Wouldn't you know, it attracted a butterfly! Incredible. I can't pinpoint the ID but it looks to belong to the Family Nymphalidae (Fritillaries, Checkerspots, Tortoiseshells, etc.). If I had to guess I'd say Silver-bordered Fritillary.
In hindsight I wish I had concerned myself less with blurring out the BG and decreased the aperture to get that whole flower in focus. The light was so bright I likely could have bumped up the ISO and kept the same shutter speed with no loss in IQ. Sometimes I forget that I'm actually at the controls!
