HMS Invincible
Cooke, always an industrious mind, has been making plans for a concept for the future of warships. The lack of any efficient propulsion mechanism, however, makes this a very sluggish vessel, even on paper, as the rearward screw would have to be manually powered by a hand crank. However, as harbour defence, perhaps it could work?
Critics are likely to say that a vessel built of iron would never float, and that the singly heavy gun is too inflexible, but perhaps time will prove them wrong?
