Round Square, Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan

Astana, also known as Nur Sultan, is the capital of Kazakhstan. It was built from scratch in 1997, with the idea of having a newer, more centrally located administrative center, as its largest city, Almaty, along with most of its population lives in the far southwestern corner on the country. This is similar to what Myanmar did with Naypyidaw/Yangon and what Brazil did with Brasilia/Rio.

The result is...unusual. Retro-futurism might work as a description? The shot was taken during a brief period between two thunderstorms about a month back.
