Reid Hoffman was born on 08/05/1967 and he was raised in California. He has a bachelor degree in cognitive science from Stanford University and a master in philosophy from Oxford University. His first choice was to become a teacher but because he understood that intellectuals have a limited impact on society, he decided to pursue a career in business and entrepreneur.
He was the co-founder of his first company an online dating service, Social.Net.Com. During the founding of PayPal, he joined the board directors. In 2002 when EBay bought PayPal, he was the executive vice president.
In December 2002 Reid Hoffman made a new start in co-founding a professional social network called LinkedIn which was launched in 2003. Now he is the executive chairman of LinkedIn. This start-up made Reid Hoffman one of the most respected boss in Silicon Valley.
Since the launched of LinkedIn in 2003 Reid Hoffman invested in many start-ups. He is one of the first, with Peter Thiel to invest in Facebook in 2004. Also invested in Zygna which sits on its board, in Ping.fm and Grouply.
But except from a business man Reid Hoffman is also a philanthropist. He sits on the board of do something a nonprofit organization, of Kiva.org a microfinance organization, of Mozilla and Endeavor Global a nonprofit organization that supports entrepreneurs with potential impact.
