L'après-midi de cette journée, nous l'avons passé en grande partie dans le musée d'Edo, un musée ethnographique et historique sur la ville de Tokyo et sur le Japon.
Petit rappel : Le pont de Nihonbashi pendant la période Edo (entre 1601 et 1868) était le point de départ du Tokaïdo, la route qui menait en 53 étapes de Edo (ancienne Tokyo) où résidait le shogun (qui avait le pouvoir) à Kyoto où résidait l'empereur qui avait abdiqué.
Cette route était surtout empruntée par les daimyos (gouverneurs de province) et leur suite, qui devaient résider un an sur deux à Edo, et y laisser leur famille en otage, afin que le pouvoir central puisse les contrôler (celui-ci doutant de leur parfaite loyauté et vassalité).
The afternoon of this day, we spent most of it in the Edo museum, an ethnographic and historical museum on the city of Tokyo and on Japan.
