Les parapluies de Cherbourg / The umbrellas of Cherbourg
Avant d'arriver, Cherbourg n'évoquait pour moi que trois choses : "Les parapluies de Cherbourg" de Jacques Demy, la base navale militaire et la gare maritime où le Titanic fit son avant-dernière escale avant Cobh en Irlande et la haute mer.
On voit sur cette photo et la suivante que les parapluies sont toujours là, une manufacture existe et un magasin situé dans l'ancienne Banque de France. Il existe aussi un parcours dans la ville lié au film de Jacques Demy.
Before arriving, Cherbourg evoked for me only three things: " the Umbrellas of Cherbourg " of Jacques Demy, the military naval base and the harbor station where Titanic made its last but one stopover before Cobh in Ireland and the open sea.
We see on this photo and the following one that umbrellas are always there, a factory exists and a store situated in the former Bank of France. There is also a tour in the city linked to Jacques Demy's movie.
