Ex Rust Bucket

The small group of SD40A's that SOO picked up from ICG in 1987 or so justly earned the nickname of rust buckets after arriving on the SOO. They were a mess both inside and out and had really been rode hard in there IC/ICG days. For awhile they were "trailing service only" until Shoreham was able to give them some love. Once they were cleaned up and repainted into SOO colors they looked fantastic. I thought I'd posted this view before but can't seem to find where I had so here it is. 6406, 4406 and 4403 lead a westbound at Daytons Bluff/West Hoffman on August 13, 1989.
