Plenty of Power

The SOO was never known as a road that used high hp to ton ratios. Normally you were dragging along with barely enough power to get over the road in the 70's and early 80's. Things started to change in 83 or so but even then trains were far from powered up to say ATSF standards. This Lake States view of train 12 at Dick had plenty of ponies even if they were tired. 707, 716 and 4230 only have 13 cars in tow on the lone westbound out of Soo yard on this fine spring evening.
