Go Around

Unremarkable shot of an MD90 (Delta 1687) flying directly over the aircraft viewing area at MSP on a 150 heading due to a go around on an approach to runway 12R. Alaska 37 had just started its takeoff roll on the same runway. Not a big deal...it happens occasionally during the busy evening arrival rush especially when runway 35 can't be used simultaneously as an exclusive arrival runway.

The tower controller apparently was dealing with a number of handoffs coming to him a little "hot" from the approach controller. Shortly after this, an exchange with another arrival went like this:

Tower: "Delta 1503, I show a 60-knot overtake on the Citation ahead."

[...]

Delta 1503: "Yeah, the guy brings us in kind of fast."

Tower: "I've noticed. He's been doin' it for about an hour."

Delta 1503: "Talk to him. We're high and fast."

Sounds like a fun day at the office. :P
