David Allen in One Hundred Percent photo by Craige Barker @gmfringe

Standing Ovation Award nominated Precarious Theatre return to the Greater Manchester Fringe for the third time with their brand new dark comedy One Hundred Percent, 3-5 July 2025, King's Arms, Salford.

In their claustrophobic studio flat, a struggling young actor confronts the supposed source of their misery, an acting examiner who motivated them to start a career in the arts by once giving them one hundred percent on an acting exam.

The subsequent psychological showdown spirals as tea turns to tension and inner truths are exposed. Desperate for validation, the embittered actor demands catharsis for a life derailed by ambition whilst the examiner must face the unintended consequences of their previous life.

These two rivals battle in the realm of passive and active aggression, through subterfuge, mind-games, and rolling power dynamics as awkward small talk, tea, and biscuits take on new and revealing meanings.

This play will have you on the edge of your seat as you wince, laugh, and cringe at the pain and joy of self-belief and ultimately wonder just whether the turmoil of ‘being an artist’ is really worth it.
