Springtime on Mona's Island
Surely the Isle of Man Steam Railway must rank as one of the best steam railways in the world with original locos and coaches running on what still feels like a real railway. Thankfully theme park management has not yet arrived on Mona’s Isle, and most staff are friendly.
The following pictures are taken on a personal visit just before the week of annual charters.
Kissack leaves Douglas station with the 11.50 service for Port Erin. Recently restored to the fleet is No. 11 Maitland at the platform awaiting departure with one of the regular lunchtime dining trains.
