An unexplained delay in Breadsall Loop saw the approaching bank of cloud just take the cherry off the cake at Milford Tunnel.
A rare outing for steam on this route, now that Tyseley’s trains usually head north via the Erewash.
Particularly appropriate is that the train was hauled by 46100 Royal Scot, which finished its BR days at Nottingham and Derby sheds. It must have been a regular sighting on this stretch of the Midland Main Line in the early 1960s.
