Before preservation 2

It’s rather frustrating to look through strips of old negatives to find most pictures taken on the climb to Talerddig in 1965 and 66 are far from sharp and beyond rescue, with dull weather and an inadequate camera taking their toll. Many were taken during a chase after a last minute rush out of the car to the position with ‘seconds to spare’ which probably didn’t help.

At least with digital scanning, most of the scratches and contrast can be sorted out but refocusing awaits new technology.

One image which has just survived a serious cull is this of 7821 Ditcheat Manor’s solo assault on the climb on a typical wet day in summer 1965.

7821 is one of several Manors in preservation, so we can take nice sharp images of it, but unfortunately not climbing to Talerddig.
