Manx Northern
In 2013 the main attraction for many of the charter participants was the all Manx Northern combination of Caledonia paired with a Manx Northern van and the “Foxdale” coach.
For once the charter ran in early April after some rare late winter snow on the island with the benefit of less foliage on the trees giving a nice contrast to the later greenery usually prevalent later in the month.
In the 1970 there was a location on the climb out of Douglas known as ‘The Piggery’ where pigs could often be seen. This location is now the site of Okells Brewery and other warehousing but the name seems, for some reason, to have passed to this location at Ellenbrook, where I have yet to see a pig !
