These two bridges that dominate the mouth of the Riachuelo form the characteristic silhouette of this part of the city. The Old Ferry Bridge, National Historic Landmark, is a colossal iron structure which opened in 1914 , baptized with the name of Nicolás Avellaneda, president between 1878 and 1880. Over the years it became obsolete, so that decided to build another more in line with the demands of growing urban traffic.

This stunning piece of concrete, about 1600 meters long, has a central span metal and drawbridge, consisting of two towers nearly 50 meters high. Pedestrians accessed by escalators and stairs. Avellaneda, in the province of Buenos Aires, and the neighborhood of La Boca in the Capital Buenos Aires, joined by this route that rises above the waters of the Riachuelo.
