Ana's Diary; Day 1 of 7th Year - 30th of August

 

I don’t think I’ll ever forget the way it felt to see him again tonight.

 

The moment I stepped into the common room, the air seemed to shift. There he was, leaning against the couch, looking tired but so familiar it made my chest ache. We’ve both been gone all summer, chasing work and proving ourselves—me, working with the Feathersweets' and my cousin Maddy at the farm. Him spending long hours with creatures that barely let him rest. We stayed busy, almost too busy, but nothing we did filled the empty space of missing each other.

 

He was finally right there.

 

I dropped everything, and suddenly I was in his arms. The hug was so tight it nearly knocked the air out of me, but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to let go. His face was pressed into my shoulder, and for a second I could feel all the weeks dissolve in that one embrace. Around us the common room was alive; firelight dancing, sweets scattered on the table, students being shown around, but none of it existed for me.

 

It’s funny. We’ve been at Hogwarts for years, but tonight it felt brand new, like the castle itself was welcoming us back not just as students, but as people who had finally found their way back to each other.

 

Seventh year. Our last year here. It won’t be easy—N.E.W.T.s, the pressure, the uncertainty of what comes next. But as long as I have Gryffindor, and as long as I have him, I think I can face anything.
