South East Essex College of Arts & Tech

South East Essex College of Arts and Technology (SEEC) in Southend on Sea, Essex.

Closed in 2004, this was my first proper explore. I had passed the building for nearly a decade, always wondering what was inside and after finally finding an access point I wasn't disappointed.

Set over 5 floors and across two wings the building was huge. It included classrooms and art workshops, darkrooms and a photographic department, science labs, a small theatre auditorium, basement and a vast cafeteria amongst other things. There were also still lots of interesting bits and pieces left remaining throughout the building.

After several hours wandering undisturbed inside it then became apparent I was no longer alone and had to make a rather hasty retreat with site security close on my tail.

They say there's never one quite like your first and that certainly rings true for this site. Still one of my favourite explores!
