The names of mountaineers have been sculpted into the stones alongside the reservoir. They are all climbers who have a part in the history of the climbs of the North Face of the Eiger mountain. The history of climbing on the North Face is told in Haller's iconic book, 'The White Spider'.
Fallbodensee is man made, and holds water that is used for making artificial snow for the surrounding slopes during the early part of the ski-season.
