14th March 2022. The path from Cats Tor to Shining Tor

Looking southwards from the depression between Shining Tor and Cats Tor towards the summit of the former. This is a very gentle ridge walk with a well paved pathway, and has views westwards across Cheshire towards Wales, and eastwards into Derbyshire. From the high points you can see Manchester City and Airport, Jodrell Bank, Shutlingsloe, Kinder Scout and Mam Tor, to name but a few points of interest.

Shining Tor is the highest point above sea level in Cheshire these days, but only achieved that elevated status after the last round of boundary changes. The summit of Shining Tor has a maximum elevation of 559 m (1,834 ft) above sea level. This ridge walk past Pym Chair and Cats Tor, follows the boundary between East Cheshire and Derbyshire, and is delightful on a sunny day.
