1st February 2021. MSC Buffalo with Tree Trunk. On the Manchester Ship Canal at Wharfside, Manchester.
This tree trunk had been marooned in the middle of the canal since the last floods in January. Buffalo came through the bridges on this morning, hoisted it alongside, and sailed off with it down the canal.
The Manchester Ship Canal, although a narrow waterway, cannot be serviced along its entire length by land-based assets. In almost all the major canal maintenance works, key activities are undertaken daily by the self-propelled crane barge, MSC Buffalo. This recently renovated vessel is more than 50 years old.
