Makaboteng (also known as Sanadan) is the Anito (spirit) who owns and tends to the deer and boar in the Philippines. Hunters look to him for advice in trying times.

 

Unfortunately, a lot of the Filipino culture has been lost to time, as Spanish missionaries came and converted the Indigenous people starting in the 16th century. The only major folk story I could find was recorded by a researcher in the beginning of the 1920’s.
