The house Singerstraße 1 was in 1882 according to a plan presented by the company Czjcek by architect Alexander von Wielemans built. From the collapsed predecessor building the house name "To the Golden Cup" was taken over. There is in Vienna, 20th district, still an identical house at Wallensteinplatz 2, which is only longer by each one a window axis, but with the exception of the mural painting it has the same decoration. In addition, another twin house is said to be located in Paris. The house Singerstraße 1 is an in Vienna unique preserved testimony of the late historicist facade painting from the time of the turn of the century. Design and execution, although still below the contemporary level of quality, however, represent the standard of that time professionally executed decorative painting.

A date on the facade of 1906 with the signing "Painted Brothers Voelkel, Vienna" refers to a complete renewal of painting. This during the restoration in 1984/85 by on fragments of wall plasters found paint remains could be confirmed and corresponds to the architectural history of other facades of the Ringstrasse. Further dates on the facade from 1926 and 1931 probably refer more to the color job of the facade as to the restoration of the painting. 1945 the upper floor by a bomb hit burned out. As a result, also a niche figure from the second floor went lost as well as the elaborate plumber works on roof and bay window. The latter in the house at Wallensteinplatz are still completely preserved. After the war, the partially severely damaged facade was plastered and painted white monochrome. In the sixties followed a renovation of the facade with gray spray plaster. The attic was expanded modern.
