"One who sits by the fire"
8-track flashback
I took this shot at Discovery Park in Union City, Tennessee. The exhibit was part of "The Science of Rock". Many of you have never seen an 8-track tape. They came before cassette tapes, which came before CDs, which came before digital downloads, which came before streaming. The first thing I bought when I got my first paycheck from my first real, regular paying job back in the sixties, was a portable 8-track player. I put it in the back seat of my 57 Chevy with one speaker on one side and the other speaker on the other side. Man, I thought I was cool. The only downside was when the tape finished, I had to pull over, get out and go to the back seat to change the tape. But back then, it wasn't a down side. I was just happy to have stereo rock-and-roll music filling my head from the back seat of my Chevy.
