Thailand’s Bangkok International Airport is Expanded

The Bangkok (Don Muang) International Airport is an important crossroads for air traffic linking Europe, Africa and the Middle East to the Asian and Pacific regions. Recognizing this, the Government of Thailand has taken steps to enlarge the Airport’s capacity to handle increased passenger services. The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) are assisting Thailand in formulating and implementing the National Airport Development Plan. The project provides: training in aerodrome engineering, review of designs, technical analysis of site investigations, soil tests, runway configuration, building layout, parking aprons and refueling system. The project also provides advisory services for planned construction. A project official works with the Airport Authority of Thailand (AAT) to ensure that new facilities meet international standards and are consistent with the planned expansion.

Passengers await their luggage at the newly built section of the airport.
