Cracks of life

While I was in the far north for what I would usually consider summer, it was really fall up there in early September. And I certainly didn’t think I would see so many hints of fall in the landscape, but everywhere I looked there were fields of warm colours, red cryptic or golden yellow stunted plants. Every here and there you’d see evidence of the season, and it just reminded me how much that area actually changes through the year.

I was really struck by how this patch of fall-coloured plant life managed to grab and hold onto what seems like a sheer cliff face, even with what looked like desert varnish. It was as if life found a way to grab hold of any crack it could.
