Highway

I think the best single-word description of Kluane’s glaciers and icefields is probably “vast.” Once you see these things from the air, you immediately lose any sense of scale of what you’re looking at. Some of these glaciers seem to go on forever when you see them in-person, but in a photo that can be hard to demonstrate. Here’s some context to chew on - first, this isn’t a highway or road, or river… well, I guess you could call it a very slow moving river of ice. This is a HUGE glacier. The distance between the two bends in that dark Line running through the glacier is almost 9km long (5.6 miles), and the glacier itself is almost 5km wide (3.1 miles ) in spots. Seems like everything is bigger in the Yukon!
