Forest Fire
Forest fires aren't really something I that impacts me in Southern Ontario. I can't think of even one experience where I've had to worry that my home/family/friends/life was in danger due to a local fire.
Seeing images on the news or social media are certainly an eyeopening experience, but without question it is impossible to really comprehend that situation without living it. I can only imagine what people are going through right now.
With all the news on forest fires across the western US, I found myself looking back to this image from the Yukon last summer when we left an active forest fire area. Driving through smoke and eventually seeing it rise above the landscape certainly helped me get a hint of perspective on these disasters. I can only imagine having your life upended or changed forever due to fires like the ones currently raging.
